What is Air-flow?
Air-Flow is a prophylactic treatment (of care and prevention) which helps to a complete professional cleaning (after brushing and scaling).
This procedure is accomplished using a device that generates a stream of air + water + sodium bicarbonate, with a high strength pressure, the stream is projected on both dental and interdental surfaces, and on subgingival areas (inaccessible areas for manual brushing). The stream which contains abrasive bicarbonate particles, removes effectively all stains and debris (tartar) present on tooth surfaces and acts like a medicine due to the properties of sodium bicarbonate.
Air-flow is indicated for tartar debris removal (after scaling), plaque and most importantly for removing stains / extrinsic stains (stains caused by eating colorful foods, tobacco, coffee, tea, etc..). The treatment is also indicated for cleaning occlusal surfaces before sealing is done, sanitizing teeth surfaces prior to applying fixed orthodontic appliance but also for the entire period of their wearing because people bearing orthodontic brackets have difficulty in sanitizing the appliance. The Air-flow treatment also provides an effective gum massage in this way restoring the circulation of terminal type.
At the end of Air-Flow treatment you will certainly enjoy a feeling of freshness and pleasant breath. The procedures are risk-free and don’t have any kind of side effects on your gums or teeth.
This cleaning technique is recommended to be performed at an interval of at least 3 months.
